At the IFP...

Nadja COURATTE-ARNAUDE, Under-Graduate Student at the Institut d’études politiques de Paris (Sciences Po) joined the Ecology Department as a trainee from 27th February to 31st August 2018 to pursue her internship on "Conservation Policies for Coastal Wetlands in South India and Andaman Mangroves"

Cécile MOUCHEL, Post-Graduate Student at the Institut d’Etude du Développement Economique et Social of the University of Paris1 Panthéon-Sorbonne joined the Social Sciences Department of the IFP as a trainee from 31st August to 29th November 2018 to work on "Primary econometric analyses on the links between access to the employment and the membership in networks"

Anandhapriyan M., M.Sc in Plant Biology and Plant Bio Technology from Madras Christian College, joined the Ecology Department as Junior Research Fellow from 04th July 2018 to 31st March 2022 nder the supervision of Dr. N. Ayyappan, to work on the project "Assessment of temporal changes of forest landscape and spatial characterization of biodiversity".

Naveen Babu K., M.Sc. in Ecology and Environmental Sciences from the Pondicherry University, joined the Ecology Department as Junior Research Fellow from 19th July 2018 to 31st March 2022 , under the supervision of Dr. N. Ayyappan, to work on the project "Assessment of temporal changes of forest landscape and spatial characterization of biodiversity in Bilgirirangan hills and Shettihalli wildlife sanctuary, Karnataka"

Jodi L. SHAW, a PhD candidate from the University of Florida, is affiliated to the Indology Department from 24th September 2018 to 15th June 2019 to work on "The Goddess and Dancing Siva in the Multiple Ritual Worlds of Chidambaram" under the supervision of Mr. M. Kannan, Researcher at the Indology Department.

Sohini PILLAI, a PhD candidate from the University of California, Berkeley, is affiliated to the Indology Department from 08th November 2018 to 07th September 2019 to work on "Epic Devotion: Region and Religion in Retellings of the Mahabharata" under the supervision of Mr. M. Kannan, Researcher at the Indology Department.

Joffrey CARLE, Software Project Engineer joined the GeoSMIT Department for the period 17th September 2018 to 31 August 2020.

Anthony GOREAU, Assistant Professor in Human Geography at the University of Bordeaux, joined the Social Sciences Department of the IFP on 07th December 2018 for a two-year duration, to carry out research on the topic: "Understanding the emergence of India and the urbanization process through the lens of tourism and leisure mobilities".

At the CSH...

Jean-Thomas MARTELLI, joined the CSH as a head researcher in September 2018. He is working under the supervision of Prof. Nicolas Gravel in the area of Politics and Society.

Sneha BANERJEE, joined the CSH as a post-doctoral Fellow in September 2018. She is working under the supervision of Julien Levesque in the area of Politics and Society.

Neeru GOHAR, joined as the Secretary to the Director of CSH in October 2018.

Rupali PAL, joined the CSH as a research associate in November 2018. She is working under the supervision of Dr. Olivier Telle in the area of Climate Science and Policy.

Md IRFAN, joined the CSH as a research assistant in December 2018. He is working under the supervision of Julien Levesque in the field of Politics and Society.

At the EFEO...

S. SARAVANAN SUNDARAMOORTHY joined the Pondicherry Centre of the EFEO as a researcher of the NETamil project to work on a manuscript of the Saraswati Mahal Library, Thanjavur. The manuscript contains a dozen grammatical works and an epic text.

Margret HOFMANN-JUERGENS from the University of Hamburg is staying in Pondicherry for six months from 15 September 2018 to continue her studies in Sanskrit and Tamil. She participates in some of the regular reading sessions organised at the Centre.

Oscar Figueroa CASTRO (Investigador Programa Estudios de lo Imaginario, Centro Regional de Investigaciones Multidisciplinarias, UNAM - Campus Cuernavaca, Mexico) arrived at the Pondicherry Centre for a sabbatical year, where he benefits from the library and from regular reading sessions of Śaiva works and from other academic activities, while working on the first Spanish translation of a non-dualist hymn in praise of Śiva by the 10th-century Kashmirian poet and philosopher Utpaladeva, namely the Śivastotrāvalī.

Jeremy SIMMONS, from Columbia University, was awarded an AIIS Junior Research Fellowship to spend 6 months from 5th August 2018 at the Pondicherry Centre of the EFEO to pursue research on his project entitled “Gold and wine: the lives of Roman imports in Ancient India (100 BCE – 400 CE)”

Nirmal SIVABALAN has joined the Pondicherry Centre of the EFEO in October 2018 as a system-administrator for the NETamil Project.

Sushmita DAS and RAMAPRIYA S, from Pondicherry University, have joined the Pondicherry Centre of the EFEO to pursue their full-time Ph.D. programme in Sanskrit under the guidance of Dr. S.A.S. Sarma and Dr. R. Sathyanarayan respectively.
