PUDUCHERRY: The French Institute of Pondicherry (IFP), the Alliance Française of Pondicherry and the Pondicherry Centre of the École Française d’Extrême-Orient (EFEO) will hold an in collaboration of the tourism department on the “five in India as recorded in 18th century plans (1673-1824)" from January 19 to 28 at the IFP.
The exhibition on five French settlements in India - Pondicherry, Chandernagore, Mahe, Karaikal and Yanam - was conceived by noted historian, long-time member of EFEO and IFP associate Jean Deloche, who passed away in December 2019. The exhibition will be part of the Pondicherry Heritage Festival.
Lise Talbot Barre, consul general of France in Puducherry and Chennai, will inaugurate the exhibition in the presence of director (tourism) Ashish Goyal, IFP director Blandine Ripert and EFEO head Dominic Goodall at 5pm on January 18.
