This bilingual French/English database assembles one thousand images of Bhairava (principally sculptures) in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, thereby presenting a vast panorama of representations of the deity in South India. The photographic documentation, derived mainly from the photographic collection of the French Institute of Pondicherry, is accompanied by descriptive fiches (localization of images, iconographic description and other miscellaneous information). A search-engine enables the user to bring together all the various data and to select images based on specific search criteria. The CD-ROM also contains a presentation of the deity and maps indicating the location of the images.

Cette base de données, bilingue français/anglais, rassemble mille images (principalement des sculptures) de Bhairava au Tamil Nadu, au Karnataka et en Andhra Pradesh, offrant un vaste panorama des représentations du dieu en Inde du Sud. La documentation photographique, provenant pour l’essentiel de la collection de la photothèque de l’Institut français de Pondichéry, est accompagnée de notices (localisation des images, description iconographique et informations diverses), et un moteur de recherche permet de croiser l’ensemble des données, de sélectionner des images correspondant à des critères de recherche précis. Le CD-ROM contient également une présentation de la divinité et des cartes permettant de localiser les images.
