The IFP, along with the U.S. Consulate Chennai, Pondy CAN, and TDC L’Avenir d'Auroville, organized a one day consultation meeting entitled “Water Stewardship for Sustainable Development of the Bioregion” on May 5th, 2015 at the Hotel Athithi in Pondicherry.
The Consultation meeting brought together all the stakeholders in the Pondicherry-Auroville bioregion working on water and environment issues. The key objective was to establish cross-sector collaboration for an integrated landscape management of our water resources.
Thiru T. Thiagarajan, Hon’ble Minister for Science, Technology & Environment, Government of Puducherry, kindly consented to deliver the Special address.
U.S. specialist Dr. Jennifer Turner, Director, China Environment Forum & Manager, Global Choke Point Initiative, Woodrow Wilson Centre participated and shared her experiences. Ms. Turner’s expertise lies primarily in environmental and energy policy in China and the U.S., with a strong background in water governance and environment.  Dr. Turner, who has several publications focusing on a variety of energy and environmental challenges across the globe to her credit, has coordinated several research exchange activities between Chinese, U.S., and other Asian experts primarily on energy cooperation, water pollution, and environmental justice.
