Open Source Simple Computer for Agriculture in Rural Areas
(OSCAR)

OSCAR is a collaborative effort, initiated by IFP (French Institute of Pondicherry) with Rice-Wheat Consortium for Indo-Gangetic Plains, India, CIRAD (Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherché Agronomique pour le Développement), France and Communication and Innovation Studies of Wageningen University, The Netherlands and as partners in the action. This project was co-financed by the European Commission’s Asia IT&C program under the “Get-in-touch & Keep-in-touch” activities in the focus areas of Agriculture and Society.

As part of an open-source software initiative, OSCAR web version was developed for Web standards compliant browsers. It was successfully tested with Mozilla Firefox 1.5 (& above) and Opera 9 (& above).

The web version is not yet Internet Explorer compatible due to technical problems of IE.
