At the end of 30 months of the OSCAR project, now we have the final versions of the OSCAR application. Being the project's major output, the OSCAR application has been developed in four different versions. They are a) a windows based version, b) a linux version, c) a PDA (Simputer) version and d) a web based version. These different versions were necessitated by our findings on field where we tested beta versions of OSCAR with various target groups such as farmers, extension workers, students and researchers. We hope that by producing four different versions for different platforms we would satisfy the needs of the target groups with varying backgrounds in terms of access and familiarity with technology and socio-economic and cultural factors. Hence we have also provided the species description pages in English, Urdu, Hindi and Bengali (Bangladesh) which broadly covers the languages of the populations in Indo-Gangetic Plains, our project area.
