This newsletter, conceived to give a glimpse of the many and varied projects conducted by the French research centres in India, circulated for several years as a "dead-tree" newsletter, then as a large PDF file. After a pause for reflection in 2016, we have decided to relaunch it in a more convenient online format as a biannual newsletter. Dr. V. Prakash receives the "Presidential Award for Classical Tamil" for the year 2015-2016 in the category "Young Scholar Award."
Dr. V. Prakash, post-doctoral scholar working in the Contemporary Tamil Culture program at the IFP, received the "Presidential Award for Classical Tamil" for the year 2015-2016 in the category "Young Scholar Award" from the hands of the President of India Shri. Dr. Sébastien Michiels, Research engineer and post-doctoral fellow at the DIAL Laboratory of the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD), who has been associated with the Department of Social Sciences at the French Institute of Pondicherry (IFP) for several years, is the winner of the award of the Forum "Vies mobiles" ("Mobile lives"). read more


The CSH is proud to announce that Dr. Bina Agarwal, a regular collaborator of the CSH, is one of the winners of the 2017 Agropolis Fondation Louis Malassis International Scientific Prize for Agriculture and Food ! Dr. Bina Agarwal, Professor of Development Economics and Environment at the University of Manchester (UK), was a former Director and Professor of the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi (India). An expert on land rights, food security and gender, Dr. Agarwal has written extensively on these topics and has contributed in putting in the public debate and giving visibility to women's access to land as a priority issue on gender equality read more

On 17/02/17, Jules Morel, PhD candidate at the IFP / LSIS, Aix-Marseille University, France, successfully defended his thesis on "Surface Reconstruction Based on Forest Terrestrial LiDAR Data". read more


The CSH congratulates Dr. Marine Aldahdah for the successful completion of her Ph.D in Sociology from Paris Descartes University. She is now a postdoctoral research fellow at IFRIS, based in CERMES3 (Centre for Research in Medicine, Science, Health, Mental Health and Society). During her Ph.D, she has worked on the use of mobile phones to improve maternal health in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, and she is the author of several articles dedicated to mobile health and digital health in the Global South. read more
