December 9 Mr Michel GUERRY senator representing the French Expatriate Community visited the French Institute.

December 8 Mr Jean Claude TRIBOLET, Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs, Embassy of France in India, New Delhi met with the staff at the IFP on his visit.

November 24 Mrs Monique CERISIER Ben GUIGA senator representing the French Expatriate Community paid a visit to the Institue.

July 25 Mr. K.K. JASWAL, IAS, Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, New Delhi, visited the Institute

July 23 His Excellency the French Ambassador to India Mr. Dominique GIRARD, accompanied by Mr. Jean-François CHENIN, Deputy Cultural Counsellor visited the Institute.

July 19 Shri. I.K. GUJRAL, former Prime Minister of India accompanied by his wife Smt. Shiela GUJRAL visited the Institute. He was given a brief presentation of the various projects and shown around the departments and laboratories of the Institute

May 20 50 ex-mayors from France, who were on a tour to India visited the Institute.

February 9 Mr. Renaud MUSELIER, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Claude BIRRAUX, Deputy of Haute-Savoie, Mr. Thierry DANA, Director, of Asia & Oceania - MEA, Mr. Lionel MAJESTE-LARROUY, Diplomatic Councillor at the Cabinet of the Secretariat of State, Ms. Annabelle BOUTIN, Councillor Incharge of Parlimentary Relations and Press at the Cabinet of the Secretariat of State, accompanied by Mr. Manuel MALHERBE, Interpreter, Mr. Patrick LORENZINI, Journalist (Var Matin), Mr. Erkki MAILLARD, Correpondent for Asia & Oceania - MEA, and Mr. Laurent PRUVOT, Security Officer, visited the Institute to see the ongoing activities and projects.

28th May - 17th June Mr. Patrice COHEN, Lecturer at the University of Rouen was at the department of Social Sciences in connection with the AIDS and Health programmes.

January 30 Mr. Laurent SERMET, Professor in the Faculty of Law and economy, University of Saint Denis de la Réunion, visited the Institute and gave a lecture on "Controverses autour du statut personnel"

Dept. of Indology

July-August Dr. Animesh ROY Ph D Scholar from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY) and a student of the well known French writer, Prof. Edouard GLISSANT, working on a thesis titled "Creolisation or not ? Cross-cultural phenomena in the former French territories of India, 1742-1954" visited the Institute for discussions with M. Kannan.

Dept. of Ecology

June Drs. S. SUDHAKAR and Girish PUJAR from the National Remote Sensing Agency, Hyderabad visited IFP for discussions on the newly started collaborative project "Modern pollen analysis in eastern Ghats for reconstruction of palaeo-vegetation and climate" with K. Anupama.

January 20-21 Dr. Victor J. ILANGO, Senior Botanist, UPASI Tea Research Foundation, Valparai, visited the Palynology laboratory to discuss about the paper on "Palynological Studies of Camellia" being jointly researched upon by both the institutes.

February 10 Mr. KRISHNAKUMAR, Conservator of Forests, Tamil Nadu Forest Department, visited IFP to discuss about the possibilities of collaborative projects.

February 15 Prof. Ashok K SINGHVI, PRL, Ahmedabad, Dr. Maurice TAIEB and Dr. Joel GUIOT, CEREGE - CNRS, France, who visited the IFP for the EILQUEC & POLTRAIN workshop met the Director, Dr. J.-P. MULLER to particularly discuss further development of the research programme on Palaeo-environments at the Institute in the context of national and international collaborations.
