The circulation of the ARV drugs in the private and informal sectors

The lecture aims at exploring how ARV drugs are circulated in Cambodia by putting the stress on general suppliers, social networks of petty providers and local demand for care. The sub-objectives focus on :

  • Identifying an illustrative number of private sectors enterprises, pharmaceutical companies, clinics) involved in anti-retroviral drug production, provision, and HIV/AIDS treatment
  • Understanding the policies and politics of the above-mentioned private sectors regarding their ARV drugs production, importation, reception, distribution & supply, trade and marketing strategies
  • From a comparative point of view, seeking to comprehend the stance and perception regarding ARV supply and production of pharmaceutical companies and enterprises that do not involve in ARV drugs.
  • Examining medical process, access, and obstacles for HIV/AIDS infected people at some private official and governmental hospitals and clinics. Such aspect being relevant to have an understanding comprehension on the local demand for care.
  • Ultimately, have a perspective insight about traditional healers’ HIV/AIDS treatment methods, views, and their position related to HIV/AIDS.
