14 500 books, 56 current journals. Notably devoted to history, geography, sociology, anthropology, economics, political science, rural and urban studies, demography, law etc. The collection includes old documents and administrative records relating to French rule in India, for ex. several volumes of the “Bulletin officiel des établissements français de l’Inde” (1823-1886) and the « Journal officiel de l’Inde française » (1918-1950).

The collection also contains an almost complete set of the Census of India dating back to 1851 (since 1971 only volumes relating to South India are being acquired) as well as Gazetteers of India pertaining to various regions, districts and taluks.

The library also has an important collection of books on gender studies.
