The French Institute of Pondicherry, an advanced centre in the network of French research in Asia, is one of the pillars of French scientific cooperation with India and, beyond, with South and South-East Asia.
To enable it to play its full role in what has become global cooperation and competition, an in-depth reform aiming to replace a logic of means by a logic of objectives and results was initiated in early 2003. The perspective is twofold: on the one hand, to endow the institution with clear objectives and, on the other hand, to allow it to play the role of “designer” of cooperative research activities, of training and expertise.
For more information on the adopted strategy, see the document published on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the IFP (“From Tradition to Modernity”)
This reform, the basis of which was presented in the 2003 Activity Report, is already showing promising results, on the level of scientific projects as well as concerning the adaptation of the human and material resources at the disposal of its teams.
