Water Resource in South India and Global Climate Changes

The French Institute of Pondicherry (FIP) and the Centre de Sciences Humaines (CSH) in Delhi, are associated in a new project of the French National Agency for Research.

Led by the by the Bureau for Geological and Mining Researches (BRGM), this project will allow a multidisciplinary and integrative approach to the "Socio-economical evaluation of the rural vulnerability of water-users under the effect of global changes in the platform zone of south India" (acronym SHIVA).

The IFP will be in charge of the cartographic representations, and the CSH will study the socio-economical impacts. The other main partners are, in France, the Laboratory of Mechanisms and Transfers in Geology (Mixed Research Unit CNRS, IRD, Universities, Observatories) and, in India, the National Geophysical Institute (NGRI, Hyderabad), the Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS, Hyderabad) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc, Bangalore).
