Home > News

The Department of Indology of the IFP has given two trainings in February 2007, in the framework of its research projects:
The first one, organised from February 15 to 17, by researchers involved in the “Historical Atlas of South India” (1) and “Contemporary Tamil Culture” (2) projects of the IFP, was an initiation to the techniques used for reconstructing the local history of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry (archaeology, epigraphy, history, literature,…). It was addressed to around twenty young historians and writers of these States.
The second, jointly organised by the IFP, French School of Asian Studies (EFEO) and the Manuscript Conservation Centre of Chennaï (Madras) on February 22 and 23, had as an objective to share with around fifteen young technicians, the IFP and the French School of Asian Studies’ (EFEO) know-how, with regards to conservation of palm leaves manuscripts and paper transcripts (IFP-EFEO programme “Cataloguing and Preservation of Manuscripts”) (3).
These two events received a wide coverage in the regional press.
