Special issue of the journal Indian Anthropologist edited by L. Pordié (IFP)
Home > News

The direction for the latest issue of the Indian Anthropologist journal [37(1), January 2007], Indian reference in social anthropology, has been entrusted to Laurent Pordié, Head of the Social Sciences Department of the IFP. This special issue is entirely devoted to popular and religious therapies in India. The articles blend three fundamental themes: the social role of healers, the presence of religion and its normative role in medical practice, and the relevance of healing practices in group identity.
The full involvement of the Institute in the Indian scientific world is by these means both confirmed and reinforced. The programme “Societies and Medicines in South Asia” led by L.Pordié has thereby accomplished the dual objective that had been assigned to it: high scientific standards and Indo-French cooperation.
