Seminar on water management in South India
Home > News

The growing shortage in water supply and the rapid change in the methods of access, storage and distribution of this resource, generate conflicts in its use, despite the technical progress made.
The ecological, social, economical, cultural and political stakes that arise from water management in South India, will be examined during a seminar organized by the IFP on November 30 and December 1, 2007, in partnership with the University of Pondicherry, and the Madras Institute of Development Studies (Chennaï). The emphasis will be put on the spatial dimension of these stakes. The Government of Puducherry as well as the “Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme” (Paris) are providing their financial support to this seminar.
The DVD “Bittersweet waters” (IFPINFO 130) will be officially launched on this occasion, in the presence of the Minister for Agriculture of the State of Puducherry and the Consul General of France in Pondicherry and Chennai.
