Home > News

The IFP (“Labour, finance and social dynamics” programme), the Institute for Human Development (Delhi) and the FNV Vakcentrale (Dutch association) jointly organized in Delhi (April 19 and 20) a seminar titled « Debt bondage: issues and perspectives ». The objective was to draw up an inventory on two important issues in India, forced labour and debt bondage, and their evolution in time.
This seminar allowed for a very rich debate between historians, anthropologists, economists – the best European and Indian specialists on these issues were present-, decision-makers (National Commission for Enterprises in Unorganised Sector, International Labour Organisation,…) and representatives of the Indian civil society (NGO: Center for Education and Development, …).
This seminar will lead to a joint-publication published by the Oxford University Press (release expected beginning 2008)
