International Seminar on Literary Translation in South India

The Indology Department of the French Institute of Pondicherry and the United States Education Foundation in India (USEFI) jointly organized at the IFP on March 14, 2008, an international seminar on literary translation in South India.

Authors and translators took stock, in the presence of students, of an activity, the art and practice of which are often neglected, and tackled in particular, the specific problems (theoretical and practical) arising from the translation of texts in Sanskrit and Tamil in English and French languages.

This seminar, funded by the USEFI, will lead to a joint publication.
