Collaboration with Morocco on the theme of social management of water

Home > News

A project on the theme of social management of water associating the IFP, the University of Marrakech (Morocco) and the National Centre for Agronomic Studies of Warm Regions (CNEARC, Montpellier) has just obtained the support from the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF).

This project, named « Crossed-views on questions of participative management in irrigation and management of the underground resource” aims to organise between India and Morocco and for 2 years: (i) transfers of knowledge on the impact of policies of participative management in irrigation (similar policies instilled by the world Bank in the two countries); (ii) exchanges of students and young researchers in the form of collective traineeships (10 students from North and South during 3 weeks) and short term individual missions.

The geographical zones concerned are the rural zones of the states of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry in India and the Haouz of Marrakech, in Morocco.

A joint-publication on the methodological and theoretical questions arising from these “crossed-views”, should conclude this collaboration.

It is reminded that the IFP, member of the Confrasie (AUF Asia) since 2004, had already obtained a funding from the AUF to develop exchanges of students and researchers between India (IFP and Jawaharlal Nehru University of Delhi) and Belgium (University of Louvain-la-Neuve) in the framework of the “Societies and medicines in South Asia” programme.
